Please take a moment to check out some of resources, links, and groups of curated resources on the topics that I'm interested in, and that I have been learning more about through the duration of my studies as a Masters of Health Science student at Athabasca University. The focus and themes range from nutrition/dietetics, to health definitions, to models of health.

Professional Links 

Dietitians of Canada The professional Association for Dietitians in Canada.  This website provides helpful definitions on what it means to be a Registered Dietitian, along with health advice and education opportunities.  

​

College of Dietitians of Ontario The Regulatory College for Registered Dietitians in Ontario.  This website explains what it means to be a regulated health professional, and why regulation is important in health care. 

​

Legislation

Canada Health Act the framework for how government funds are spent in provincial and territorial health insurance programs (also called "Medicare").  

 

Regulated Health Professionals Act

Legislature that speaks to the scope and roles of regulated health professionals in Canada. 

 

Bill 74; The Peoples Health Act Legislature relating to the integration of delivery systems and ensuring mechanisms for patient, family, employee and caregiver engagement as part of the planning processes

This website provides credible diet and nutrition advice on a variety of healthcare topics.  The website is run by the Dietitians of Canada.

 

CAMH Digital tools

This website contains many evidence based and credible links and tools to support mental health for Canadians.  It is run by the Canadian Association for Mental Health 

 

Home health ontario

Provides up to date news, resources and links relating to home health care in Ontario.  

 

Raindrop Curation Site

This is the main website I use for curation of health resources.  The website allows for themes groupings of topics to make it easy to keep resources in one space.

A selection of curated articles including an infographic on the causes and inequities of Obesity in Canada, a Peer reviewed article on treatments for Obesity and an opinion peice on the potential harm, stigma and bias by assuming Obesity is a simple lifestyle choices as opposed to a chronic disease with complex etiology.

Vulnerable Population: Older adults

Older adults in Canada are frequently cited as a vulnerable population.  With research showign 4-10% of older adults experiencing abuse, healthcare workers play a role in prevention and reporting abuse.

Future Directions; Indigenous healers in Health Care

A selection of resources on Indigenous Healing, Indigenous Medicine, and the inclusion of Indigenous healers in current Health Care Systems in Ontario and in Canada.  Includes examples, definitions, and peer reviewed studies.
